A chart legend does a recap of all series and is optional. It is displayed by default to the right hand-side of the chart. In absence of custom legend formatting positioning and sizing, the legend is anchored so that it tries its best not overlap other chart elements such as the plot area and axis.

The legend object supports anchoring, positioning, sizing, orientation as well as all common options.

Further more, each legend entry can be customized by taking advantage of an interface available from a given series.
